It's Monday. It's a new week. Those who are employed may agree, this particular day isn't everyone's favourite. The moment we open our eyes, try to get up, and be ready for whatever it is on our agenda, things can start to go wrong (well, for me personally, anything that happens in the morning is just wrong—haha).
We may oversleep, or we may not have enough sleep. We may miss our breakfast, or we may have to prepare breakfast for other family members. We may have to fight for a seat on a jam-packed public transportation, or we may have to drive or ride our own vehicle with patience against the insane traffic. Anything can go wrong at the beginning of a new week.
Guess what? That's not new. No one would be surprised hearing how horrible Monday could be, so why bother broadcasting it on various social media?
I know I am not the right person to give any insight here, since I am not experiencing crazy routine at the moment. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays feel the same to me. But like other humans, anything can go wrong on my day too. If I let it gets on my nerves, the rest of the day will become so irritating. Worse, so will the rest of my week. And I don't want that.
Here's a paradigm shift.
Whatever happens today (or tomorrow, and the next day) and no matter how tempting it is, I will not share my thoughts or feelings on Path / Facebook / Twitter / any social media app about what goes wrong. Instead, I will share something that highlights my day — if that's necessary. Not only does it shift my focus on things that are true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse (Philippians 4:8), it also decreases the amount of negativity that are already too much to see on social media.
May our Monday and the rest of the week be filled with childlike delight and sustainable joy!
