Waiting is a cliched topic to talk about. There are too many illustrations, quotes, articles, and parables that discuss and elaborate this unavoidable "task". No matter how much I have learned about waiting, it is still something I would rather skip than look forward to. I almost always feel like speeding up some "unnecessary" parts of waiting because I find it wearisome and dull.
Why the delay?
Why not now?
What if I no longer want what I am waiting for?
Just as Job complained to his Master, "what's the deal, God? What are YOU waiting for?"
Then this hit me...
The Lord says,
"Wait upon me. I am never late but seldom early.
I know your needs before you do, and am in the process of working all things together for your good.
My plans are worth waiting for. I am worth waiting for. Do not rush things. Do not run ahead. Stay on my timetable. When you get things out of sequence, it takes longer than necessary.
Shortcuts end up being unexpected detours. Trust and praise Me while you wait. As you do, I will strengthen you and prepare you for what is to come. It will be worth it in the end."
Waiting might be boring.
But when I realise that my Creator keeps making me in the process of it, it is worth it.
After all, the whole story isn't about me, it's about Him.
He must increase, I must decrease.
